In the Spring of 2010 they bought a sorry looking Volkswagen T4 van. With a very small budget, a lot of imagination and some borrowed tools they slowly created their dream home. Over the past 5 years they have travelled more than 80000 miles across Europe in The Rolling Home.
Lauren Smith and Calum Creasey make up a creative studio team in the United Kingdom. They’ve spent the last five years traveling Europe in their free time and have just put together a book titled “The Rolling Home” to document them. The project is on its way to be fully funded on Kickstarter, but the journey isn’t over. With the funds, they’ll fix up their van and move into it full time. Through the book and their social media, Lauren hopes to show that their lifestyle is attainable (within reason) and fun. Most of all, she wants people to get out of their comfort zones and see what the world has to offer.
Calum Lauren are from Newport Pagnell, a town in Buckinghamshire. They have always loved the outdoors and exploring. Calum grew up with campervans of all shapes and sizes.
“Life is simple in vans, we get to see the world together!”
Staying in the most remote & beautiful places, Sweden is their favourite followed by Galicia in Spain.
They Say one of the most difficult things about living in the van, is arriving in towns that are not very ‘van friendly’ there is nothing worse than you being tired and searching for a place to park up in the dark.
