Robert De Niro is no fan of Trump. And that isn’t news. Nevertheless, his present feud with the President of the US has recently escalated, and it has caught many people’s attention.
At Dubai’s World Government Summit, the famous actor addressed the packed audience and surprised them when he stated he was visiting from a “backward” country that suffers from “temporary insanity.” De Niro explained that at the country he lives in, the Environmental Protection Agency’s head has asserted that global warming could be a good thing for humanity.
De Niro said: “I am talking about my own country, the United States of America. We don’t’ like to say we are a ‘backward’ country so let’s just say we’re suffering from a case of temporary insanity.”
He added that the country “will eventually cure itself by voting our dangerous leader.” The audience reacted with applause and laughter to De Niro’s statement.
As mentioned above, this wasn’t the first time the actor had publicly criticized the President of America. The most recent criticism of Donald Trump occurred at the National Board of Review Annual Awards Gala. The Oscar-winner had then called Trump “a f**ing fool” and “the jerkoff-in-chief”. Also, during the campaign trail, De Niro claimed he’s like to “…punch [Trump] in the face.”
